HISTORY
Cadaver Dogs was formed in Hamilton Ohio in mid-2001. Founded by Scarecrow Rottinghouse and V. Rottinghouse, they were soon joined by E.M. Hearst (who was Scarecrow's old bandmate in the Industrial/Horror Metal band
Kindergarten from 1995 to 1999.
The band's name was changed in 2002 (after the discovery of another band with the same name) to Wraith of the Ropes. The true meaning of the name is known only to the band members themselves... and it will stay that way. The band prefers to let each individual listener's own imagination determine the meaning.
The band was heavily influenced by Horror films and soundtracks... this was (and still is) the foundation of all the music created by the band. From the beginning, Wraith of the Ropes have strived to forge their own unique sound and genre. Uncomfortable with any other musical definition or label, Wraith of the Ropes exclusively plays "Horror Metal".
A year or so into the band's existence they began heavily incorporating elements of Doom and Dark Metal to the Horror base. At the same time there were many other influences and elements in the periphery of the sound... from Classical and traditional music to Electronic and Industrial textures. There are no borders to Wraith of the Ropes' music.
The writing process for Wraith's first album "Ada" began in late 2001. It was a very long and painfully meticulous process. The six core songs were written and habitually re-written and altered over and over again...the recording process lasted well over four years. Everything that could possibly go wrong during the recordings (both musically and personally), did go wrong. After years of struggles, set-backs and heartbreak, the debut album was finally completed in the late summer months of 2005.
Along the way a member was sadly lost... co-founder V. Rottinghouse left the band in late 2004...

The band has carried on as a two-piece and it is likely to remain a duo from now on. The music on "Ada" is the product of these two ruined and cursed lives... it would be almost impossible for any other outside person to enter the band in a creative capacity at this point. It is however quite possible that the band will recruit a few session musicians to bring their music to the stage one day.
The band signed with the Israeli doom label "Totalrust Music" in mid 2005 and the label released WOTR's debut on Halloween (October 31st) of 2005. The music reflects the misery that was felt by it's creator's during the many years that it took to complete the album. "Ada" is tenebrous, depressive, suicidal and doom-laden Horror Metal.
The band are now writing and recording their second album, to be titled "Demonic Influence". Wraith of the Ropes is an ever-evolving entity that will never stay exactly the same from album to album. "Demonic Influence" will be more influenced by Traditional Metal, Thrash and Black Metal than Doom, but the Horror atmosphere will remain very much in tact and possibly even be enhanced by this new direction. Wraith hopes to release their second album in the first half of 2007.
